How Barter Works for Non-Profits

As a member of a trade exchange a non-profit can accept a donation of almost any product or service. Those that the non-profit need or can use are retained and the rest are offered for sale through the trade exchange. When sold, they receive credit that is banked at the trade exchange for future use.

These credits remain in the non-profit account until the non-profit finds goods or services that they want. The purchase is made with these credits. In this way, the non-profit has taken things that they did not want and sold them to get goods or services that they would otherwise pay cash to receive.
